Hi, I'm Brie. I'm a game designer, speaker, writer, mentor, and the CEO and creative director of TRU LUV, a video game studio making games with people who find video games boring. I'm investigating alternate reward frameworks for reaching new audiences, especially the reward framework implied by the theory of tend-and-befriend. I'm building up a new theory of game design based on these frameworks.
I travel frequently to consult with game development teams, speak at games and tech events, and work with emerging game development communities. I have a column at GamesIndustry.biz. I recently joined the team at Game Girl Workshop, and I mentor students in interactive media at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
Previously I was a lead programmer at Ubisoft on the soft, ethereal game Child of Light and three Assassin's Creed games. I started my career writing AI code. If you've played Company of Heroes against the AI, you're playing against me and one of my colleagues.
